MORE INFORMATION
Get ready for the return of hockey’s oldest rivalry! The Queen’s Gaels and RMC Paladins will face off in the 37th Carr-Harris Challenge Cup on Thursday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Slush Puppie Place.
The Carr-Harris Challenge Cup, first initiated in 1986 by the International Hockey Hall of Fame, celebrates the longstanding rivalry between Queen’s and the Royal Military College. This thrilling matchup dates back to 1886, making it the longest-recorded hockey rivalry in the world. Queen’s took home last year’s trophy with a dominant 6-0 victory over RMC in front of a packed crowd of 3,586 fans. The Gaels have a 23-12 edge in the historic contest, with one game having ended in a tie.
Tickets for the 37th Carr-Harris Challenge Cup are on sale now! You can purchase them directly on Ticketmaster.com. Queen’s students can also pick up tickets at the Q Services desk in the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
The Carr-Harris Challenge Cup trophy, donated by the Centennial Committee, features the iconic “Lennie” sculpture by Kingston’s own Joan Belch, which honors Lennox Irving—who scored the first-ever goal in the historic 1886 matchup. In addition to the prestigious Carr-Harris Trophy, the Mary Carr-Harris Most Valuable Player Award is presented annually to the top player from each team. This award honors Mary Carr-Harris, the matriarch of the Carr-Harris family, who until her passing in 2006, personally presented “Lennie” to the winning team each year.
